Man In Black

Johnny Cash
February 26, 1932 - September 12, 2003

You wonder why I always dress in black

Why you never see bright colors on my back
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone
Well there's a reason for the things that I have on

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down
Living in the hopeless, hungry side of town
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime
But is there because he's a victim of the times

I wear the black for those who never read
Or listened to the words that Jesus said
About the road to happiness through love and charity
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me

Well we're doing mighty fine I do suppose
In our streak-o-lightning cars and fancy clothes
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back
Up front there ought to be a Man In Black

I wear it for the sick and lonely old
For the reckless ones whose bad trips left them cold
I wear the black in mourning for the lives that could have been
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men

I wear it for the thousands who have died
Believing that the Lord was on their side
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died
Believing that we all were on their side

There are things that never will be right I know
And things need changing everywhere you go
But till we start to make a move to make a few things right
You'll never see me wear a suit of white

I'd love to wear a rainbow every day
And tell the world that everything's OK
But I will carry off a little darkness on my back
Untill things are brighter I'm the Man In Black

Hours In My Day

It's going on 50 hours and I've still not slept.
My body goes through the motions it must,
all to familiar with this type of abuse.
My mind, irritated by all who cross my path,
is still processing at 100 mph.
I glare, I snap.
I use my lack of sleep as an excuse
to let the bitch-monster run amok all those who annoy me.
I know I should get to bed, but the need and want of sleep has passed.
It's been replaced with an awareness that borders delirium.
Everything and nothing makes sense.
Everything has a pulse.
I can see the beats pound out of my eyes.
I can hear the earth breathing.

Pearls

Women!
What can you say?
Who made 'em?

God must have been a fuckin' genius.

The hair ... They say the hair is everything, you know.
Have you ever buried your nose in a mountain of curls ...
just wanted to go to sleep forever?

Or lips ... and when they touched yours, were like ...
that first swallow of wine ... after you just crossed the desert.

Tits.
Hoo-ah!
Big ones, little ones, nipples staring right out at ya,
like secret searchlights.

Mmm. Legs.
I don't care if they're Greek columns ...
or secondhand Steinways.
What's between 'em ...
passport to heaven.

I need a drink.
Yes, Mr Sims,
there's only two syllables in this whole wide world worth hearing:
pussy. Hah!
Are you listenin' to me, son?
I'm givin' ya pearls here.

I love Al Pacino in this movie.
It was on today and I actually sat down to watch it.
Other than the obvious end speech in the movie,
this is my favorite part.
I wanted to share it because honestly,
women, no matter what the romance industry has led you to believe,
want their men to lust after them with this type of passion.

Anna Nicole Smith

Anna Nicole Smith, age 39, was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital after being found unconscious in her hotel room.

Anna Nicole, whose legal name was Vickie Lynn Marshall, had weathered some difficult times of late, including a tempestuous struggle in the United States Supreme Court for access to her deceased husband’s fortune,
the death in September of her 20-year-old son, Daniel Wayne Smith,
a pending paternity suit over her infant daughter, and just this week,
being named in a class-action lawsuit against TrimSpa, the diet-pill company for which she was a spokeswoman.

The Texas-born Smith was a topless dancer at strip club before she entered her photos in a search contest and made the cover of Playboy magazine in 1992. She became Playboy's playmate of the year in 1993. She was also signed to a contract with Guess jeans, appearing in TV commercials, billboards and magazine ads. In a statement, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said: "I am very saddened to learn about Anna Nicole's passing. She was a dear friend who meant a great deal to the Playboy family and to me personally."

In 1994, she married 89-year-old oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II,
owner of Great Northern Oil Co.
In 1992, Forbes magazine estimated his wealth at $550 million.

Through the '90s and into the new century, Anna was famous for being a pop-culture punchline because of her up-and-down weight, her Marilyn Monroe looks, her exaggerated curves, her little-girl voice, her ditzy-blonde persona, and her over-the-top revealing outfits.

She starred in her own reality TV series, "The Anna Nicole Show,"
in 2002-2004. Cameras followed her around as she sparred with her lawyer, hung out with her personal assistant and interior decorator, and cooed at her poodle, Sugar Pie. She also appeared in movies, performing bit parts. On her reality show and other recent TV appearances,
her speech was often slurred and she seemed out of it.

The preceding is not how I want to remember Anna Nicole. Despite her erratic behavior, I believe she was a lonely soul who was merely in search of returned love. She was a beautiful person in more than just the obvious way, and this is how I am going to remember her.

You Have Ten Days

Ten days to come up with and show me all the different ways that you love me. Be it with flowers and expensive gifts or deliciously creamy chocolates that you can eat off of my body ...

Okay, I'm just kidding about the flowers and expensive gifts.

Valentines is ten days away. This is not a holiday that I actually celebrate. You don't need a special commercial holiday that is propagated by greeting card companies to tell you when the perfect day is to tell that someone you love them.
If you love someone, you love him or her every day of the year.

That being said, I am still going to do several posts about this crazy little thing called love.

I've been neglecting my blog and if anything, this will give me a reason to post more often.

So until next time, grab your luva, give them a kiss and tell them that you love them.
